The Ramona Girls Under 8 All Star team took first place in the SDSC Recreational All Star Challenge over the weekend in Rancho Bernardo. Coaches Derek Roed, Ian Heap, and Wes Bryant are proud of how well the girls played as a team bringing a Championship title home to Ramona for our recreational soccer league. The team is comprised of the following players: Quinn Archer, Kate Schaeffer, Brooklyn Roed, Samatha Mode, Emersyn Bryant, Clarie Scharf, Avery Heap, Kailyn Bachman, Abigail Cortez, Ella Paredes, Carly Boss, and Alice Nielsen. Notable goals over the weekend include: Kailyn Bachman and Avery Heap to lead the girls to a victory over Escondido in the first game on Saturday, 2-1. The girls’ momentum continued with Alice Nielsen scoring 1 goal and Carly Boss scoring 2 goals for a victory over Rancho Bernardo in the second game on Saturday, 3-0. Sunday’s Championship game was won with the winning goal scored by Avery Heap to bring the GU8 to victory, 1-0. “We are proud of our girls and how far we have come. We had lots of community support including Jose Martinez who volunteered his time and was gracious enough to come to practices and help our goalies and players prepare for their first ever tournament. We are fortunate and thankful to everyone who helped us succeed and look forward to what the future may bring.
